Day of Our Lady of Sorrows - Slovakia

The Day of our Lady of Sorrows Feast in Slovakia always falls on September 15 each year and celebrates the Roman Catholic Virgin Mary the mother of Christ and the seven sorrows.

Celebration\ Observance

People celebrate by reflecting on the seven sorrows and many Catholics will recite the "Our Father" and seven "Hail Mary's" for each one of the seven sorrows.

History

Back in 1814, The Day of our Lady Sorrows was added to the Catholic calendar and later in 1913 Pope Pius X moved the day and the feast to its current date of September 15th.
