National Day of the People's Republic of China - Hong Kong

This day falls on October 1st each year unless the day falls on a Sunday and then the following Monday will be the observed holiday. This day celebrates the formation of the Peoples Republic of China. This day marks the beginning of a 7 day holiday week called Golden Week.

Celebration\ Observance

This is a patriotic day with military parades, national flags waived and put on buildings and on streets, and firework displays.

History

National Day started from the victory in the war against Nationalist forces led by Chaing Kai Shek. The Chinese National Flag was raised on this day in front of all the soldier that took part in the victory.
