Celebration\ Observance
The President calls on all its agencies and organizations the are involved with child welfare to unite and engage in Child Health Day to bring attention to the development and health of children. Healthcare organizations will hold drives, and support events to raise awareness and provide materials to help bring attention and support to children's health around the nation. Child Health Day is not a national federal holiday but rather an observance to bring to the publics attention child health issues.
History
In 1928 President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed Child Health Day to be annually observed on May 1 and was later changed to its current date of the first Monday in October. One of the biggest issues facing children's health today is overweight children and Child Health Day addresses that issue along with all the other issues facing children in the modern world today.
